Aaron Ciechanover (Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2004) gave a talk on "Intracellular Protein Degradation: From a Vague Idea thru the Lysosome and the Ubiquitin-Proteasome System and onto Human Diseases and Drug Targeting" in the closing plenary session. Pictures can be found here.
 

Andrea Ballabio was awarded the ESHG Award 2007.

European Human Genetics Conference 2006
Amsterdam, May 6-9, 2006

One of the highlights of the 2006 conference of ESHG in Amsterdam was the talk by Sydney Brenner on "Humanity's genes". In this talk he continued a line of thinking about the future of human genetics which you may find was already present in his acceptance speech for the Nobel prize in Stockholm, on 8 december 2002. Some of us may not know much about all the work that Brenner did over the past 50 years to create the fields of molecular biology, and of animal and human genetics. This describes briefly the many original contributions of Sydney Brenner to biology, such as the development of C. Elegans, and Fugu as animal models. There is also a brief biography of his life in science that you may find of interest, as well as a video of the talk.
