Survey on the implementation of the Regulation (EU) No 511/2014 on compliance measures for users of the genetic resources-focus on applicants for research funds
The survey aims to:
- gauge the level of awareness among the research funding applicants about the EU ABS Regulation and their duty to submit due diligence declaration when applying for research funds;
- identify whether assistance (and if so, what type of assistance) is provided by the funding institutions during the application process regarding their duties under the ABS regulation, especially article 7(1);
- gather information about the practical implications of the provisions and related implementation of the ABS Regulation on research practices.
This survey targets funding applicants (current or potential) to public funds who conduct research in areas that might fall under the scope of ABS Regulation.

Currently, there is a lot of variation in national legislation for genetic testing and a lack of oversight of the applicable instruments. This complicates genetic research as well as knowing how to deal with the results for instance in the case of incidental findings or whether genetic counseling is mandatory.
In order to create an overview of national instruments and professional codes or guidelines we would like to distribute a survey among relevant people (i.e. people performing genetic tests and/or people aware of the legal environment).
